Saint Mary’s goodmoms and Friendship Community Care partnered this spring to bring expectant families and those with children ages infant through 24 months information on Baby Signs. This fun and informative seminar introduced caregivers to the history of the Baby Signs movement and the research behind it. Program developers say that when babies learn to sign, they can jumpstart their intellectual development in many ways. Through signing, parents can purposefully teach babies signs to help babies communicate basic needs until they can use words to communicate.Door prizes and refreshments were offered to the 30+ guests in attendance, who included moms, dads, infants, siblings, grandparents and friends!
Instructors with Friendship Community Care, Andrea LaPointe and Becky Wooten, presented the interactive program, teaching and practicing 28 basic signs with the audience. Guests were also provided take-home materials and resources for more information on Baby Signs and child development.
